Stanbic Uganda Cup: KCCA FC to face struggling Kataka in Mbale

The 49th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup will see the see the last game in the round of 32 come against the 10 time winners KCCA FC as they visit struggling Big league side Kataka FC at Mbale Municipal stadium.

The Kasasiro boys are to progress to the round of 16 as they hunt for silverware in the 2022/2023 season, they currently sit top of the UPL league table.

Head coach Morley Byekwaso has urged his players to stage a fighting spirit so as they can win and progress to the round of 16.

“We need to treat the game with utmost respect. We want to progress to the round of 16 and we can only do so by winning against our opponents.” Said coach Morley Byekwaso.

“We welcome Kizza Mustafa and Peter Magambo back. They know this club through and through and will be good additions for us in the remaining part of the season. New signing Hassan Mubiru is also part of the squad and hopefully he can hit the ground running.”

“My players know that they have to take each opportunity handed to them with both hands and have got to compete for their position on the team.”

KCCA FC eliminated KJT FC by a 3-0 score in their round of 64 game whereas Kataka FC couldn’t win against Gorilla Highlands SC but they progressed to the round of 32 after a successful petition which saw Gorilla dumped out for using an ineligible player.

Kataka FC sit 10th in the FUFA Big league table with just 20 points from 17games played and have only managed one win from their last five league games and have went in to lose three with one draw as they continue in a struggling run of performance.
