Stanbic Uganda Cup: Dudu Ramathan nets a brace as Kitara eliminate regional league side UPU

Big league side Kitara FC booked a slot in the Uganda cup round of 16 after eliminating regional league side Uganda Pentecostal University by a 2-1 score in the round of 32 match played at Kigaaya playgrounds.

Defender Dudu Ramathan scored a second half brace to hand coach Sam Ssimbwa his first home win as a valentine’s Day gift as they progressed to the next round.

Kitara FC dominated the game from the start as they created a couple of chances with winger Geoffrey Lwesibawa missing from close range.

Striker George Ssenkaaba and Ronald Kayongo also had chances to put the hosts ahead in the first stanza if the game but they couldn’t guide their efforts on target.

In the second half, Moses Sseruyide had the better chance to put Kitara ahead from the penalty but his effort was saved by the Uganda Pentecostal University goalkeeper in the 55th minute.

Dudu Ramathan opened up the scoring as he tapped in from close range beating the goalkeeper to put Kitara in a deserved 1-0 lead in the 64th minute.

With the game reaching the last 10 minutes to full time, Uganda Pentecostal University equalised with a beauty as Abdulburst Bwambale looping the ball past goalkeeper Farouk Yawe who was inches off his line to level the scores.

Defender Dudu Ramathan completed his brace as he restored Kitara’s lead with the last minute to full time as he scored in the 90+ minutes to hand Kitara FC a 2-1 win on valentines day.
