Pan Africa Schools Football 2023: Uganda’s Royal Giants defeats Ethiopia’s Geda Robel to qualify for African Championships

Royal Giants shocked Ethiopia’s Geda Robel S.S  in penalties after a goalless draw in the normal time to be crowned the champions of the CECAFA region as they booked a slot in the CAF pan Africa Schools Championships In Morocco.

Ugandan side Royal Giants won 4-2 in penalties thanks to their goalkeeper who saved two penalties for the Ethiopia’s side. 

Enock bagenda, Thomas Ogema, Nasifu Najib and Jovan katuramu all scored for Royal Giants.

Royal Giants will now represent East Africa in the boy’s category in the CAF Pan Africa school’s championship that will take place in Morocco from April 7th -9th.

After Crowned Champions, Royal Giants received a prize of USD 100,000.

On the other hand Geda Roble S.S who finished second received a price of USD  75,000.

In Semi finals, Royal Giants defeated South Sudan’s Libya  2-1 thanks to goals from Jovan katuramu (brace).

Meanwhile Ethiopia’s Geda Royal S.S defeated Burundi’s side Ecofo Gasanda 3-1.

In Group stages, Royal Giants only lost to Geda Roble 4-0 in other two games Royal Giants won Tanzania’s side Benjamin Mpaka and Rwanda’s side ES sumba 2-0 and 1-0 respectively  earning 6 points.

On the other hand in the Girls Courtesy, Uganda representative Amus College school -Bukedea finished third walking away with a Bronze Medal.

Amus College school- Bukedea defeated Rwanda’s side Kiramuzi MS 0-1 thanks to goal from Shakira Logose.

Amus College school -Bukedea will now come home with a prize of USD 50,000 worth Ug Shs  190,000,000.

However, desperately they failed to seal the final slot in the CAF African Schools Championship that are to be held in Morocco in April.

They will wait for the next edition.

For starters, Amus College school -Bukedea won all their 3 group stage games and maximised all the nine points.
