The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association has officially flagged off Buddo Secondary School Basketball 3X3 team to represent Uganda in the upcoming Africa Schools Championships tonne held in Casablanca, Morocco.
The team of 14 man team of both the boys and girls has been officially flagged off today 23rd February by the state minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang at cooper Chimney restaurant in Lugogo.
Minister Peter Ogwang has urged the player to keep discipline in the games where they are to take part while representing the nation.
“Sports is one of the highest paying disciplines in the world and I urge you to use the opportunity that has come to you and make it of much benefit to your journey.”
“Discipline should always be fronted while you represent the country in Morocco.”
He went ahead to thank the management of Buddo Secondary School who have offered support to their team as they have covered full transportation to the boys team and government only left with sponsoring the girls team.
“I thank the school for supporting these children in funding them to see that they can raise the national flag on continental events.”
“We as government must prepare and make sure we support these teams because they are representing the nation not their schools. I urge parliament to offer full support once I come to you on the issue of sports budget.”
Buddo Secondary School are the double Champions of the USSSA Elite schools Championships in Basketball 3X3 as they clinched trophies in both the boys and girls category.
Buddo Secondary School booked their ticket in the Boys category at the Africa Schools Championships after being crowned Champions in the FEASSA games which were held in Tanzania.
In the girls category, they took up the opportunity to represent the country at the Africa Schools Championships after FEASSA Champions St. Mary’s Kitende opted out and the slot was taken up by Buddo who were ready.
