Standbic Uganda Cup: Kitara shoots out Free Stars as four Big league sides bow out

The Stanbic Uganda cup round of 64 matches played on Sunday 29th January saw Kitara FC defeat Free Stars 3-0 in the penalties after playing out to a goalless draw. 

Big league table leaders Kitara FC progressed to the round of 32 but goalkeeper Micheal Kagirir was the hero on the day as he managed to produce an outstanding performance which saw him save two penalties and the other going wide.

Abbas Kateregga, John Wesley Kisaakye and Jasper Aheebwa scored for Kitara FC as they progressed to the round of 32.

The other Big league sides of NEC FC, Luweero United, Soroti City and Northern Gateway were all knocked out after suffering defeats in their games they played.

Soroti based side Pajule Lions defeated big league side NEC FC 1-0 to progress to the round of 32. NEC FC will now turn all the focus to the FUFA Big league where they are vying for a qualification spot to the top tier league.

Luweero United also suffered a 3-2 defeat against Blue Stars in Tororo whereas Soroti City lost 3-1 against Junior Eagles to bow out.

Northern Gateway another Big league side also lost 5-1 against Admin FC.
