CHAN 2023: Micho’ hails players character in goalless draw with two time Champions DR Congo

Uganda opened up their CHAN campaign with a 0-0 draw against two time Champions DR Congo at stadium 19th May 1956 in Annaba.

Head coach Micho’ Multin Sredjovic hailed the character players put up as they dominated DR Congo and they were not intimidated by the big ne players they faced.

“DR Congo are two time Champions of CHAN and are one of the favourites and u believe that we have applied ourselves well on the pitch as we have physically matched up the opponents. We have technically and tactically dominated them but we failed to score as our close chance hit the post which could have gifted us victory.”

“I give credit to the players for the for working so had and not being intimidated by the big names of the opponents and the character they have put up shows that Uganda has more to offer in this tournament. We now turn out focus to the next game against Senegal.” Said coach Micho

Uganda could have walked away as the winners on the day against DR Congo as they dominated and created a couple of chances which saw Gift Fred header hit the post whereas Milton Kariisa had his goal ruled out for a foul in the build up.

Uganda will face Senegal in their second game on Wednesday before taking on Ivory Coast on Sunday 15th.
