Kakande guides 10-man SC Villa past Maroons

Patrick Kakande scored the only goal SC Villa defeated Maroons in the Startimes Uganda Premier league match played at Akii Bua stadium in Lira.

Defender Kenneth Ssemakula was sent off in the 50th minute for a goal line clearance using his hand to deny Maroons a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige made double saves to deny Fred Amaku from the resulting penalty and the rebound as he kept SC Villa in the lead.

Maroons could have leveled the scores but they failed to be calm in the goal mouth which saw them shoot from far as they squandered their chances.

Dennis Orombi had a chance to level the scores for Maroons but his shot was blocked by Charles Bbaale as it was directed to goal.

A win for SC Villa ensures that they move to the 5th position on the table with 17 points as they bounce back to winning ways whereas Maroons remain 11th with 10 points.

SC Villa will return to action as they face Blacks Power whereas Maroons will be up against Gaddafi in Luzira.
