Munguchi’s lone goal guides Gaddafi past Busoga in the Jinja derby

Steven Munguchi came off the bench to score the only goal as Gaddafi FC defeated Busoga United in the Startimes Uganda Premier league match played at Kakindu stadium.

Gaddafi FC registered their first win in the league as they powered past resilient Busoga United in the Jinja derby with a hard fought win.

The Wasswa Bbosa coached side started the game as a better side creating chances but they looked not sharp in front of goal as they couldn’t convert.

Gaddafi FC continued to register more members in their sick bay as they were force to make three substitutions within the first half.

Returning Mahad Yahaya, Johnson Odong and Paul Kalumba were all replaced by John Byamukama, Elvis Ngonde and Steven Munguchi.

Busoga United played hard to hold Gaddafi at halftime as the game went into the break still goalless.

Steven Munguchi powerful shot beat goalkeeper Micheal Lutaaya in the 69th minute to give Gaddafi a deserved lead.

Gaddafi could have doubled their lead but an Amir Kakomo long range shot couldn’t find the target as it went inches wide in the 84th minute.

A 1-0 win pushed Gaddafi FC to sit 9th on the log with six points as they registered their first win.

Busoga United succumbed to their fourth consecutive loss in the league as they continue with their poor run of performance.

Busoga United will return to action as they take a long trip to face Onduparaka away from home, whereas Gaddafi will host Bright Stars in their next league game.
