Victoria University Kampala, will join the RealStars Sports Agency in celebrating best Athletes all over Uganda.
The announcement was made by the Degree awarding University Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Coreta Muganga during the FORTEBET REALSTARS awarding ceremony for the month of September at Route 256 Kampala on Tuesday Afternoon.
Professor Lawrence who acknowledged the need to grow sport and celebrate best Athletes said, “we are very proud to be part of the sports sector,our University believes in transformation and excellence, celebrating young people is one of the strategies to lay a strong foundation for the future”,said Victoria University Vice Chancellor.
Professor Lawrence Muganga who offered 0ne Million Ugandan Shillings for the September Winners thanked the organisers before adding , “if we want to excel, everyone must be better”.
The RealStars Awards are an initiative of veteran journalist Isaac Mukasa targetting celebrating best Athletes every after 30 days and are mainly Sponsored by ForteBet Uganda and Jude Colour Solutions.
The September Awards saw 4 Athletes fare better among 12 nominees in different categories.
Brenda Ekone picked a second consecutive plaque and brown envelope in the Basketball Category.
Brenda has guided JKL Lady dolphins to lead the Women National League Finals 2-1 in the Best of Seven series,she beat stiff competition from City Oilers Forward Tony Drilleba and Aerial Okall from Namuwongo Blazers.
The youngester who has been nominated six times in these awards said, “its a great opportunity to be here,I promise to continue pushing harder most so for the October accolade”.
The Football Category saw St.Lawrence University talisman,Bruno Bunyaga run away with the brown envelope for the first time after guiding his teams (SLAU & BUDDU) to the semi-final stages of different competitions they are in.
Raizat Ali Shah who picked 219 runs off 149 balls to be named man of the Tournament and guide the Cricket Cranes to winning the inaugural Africa T20 Cup in Benoni, SouthAfrica was no debate as he scooped the Cricket best player for September.
Lastly,Jacob Kiplimo who was the First Ugandan to win the Great North Run recording 59.33.66 was named winner in the Athletics Category.
