Unruly Gabriel Aredo handed 10 Month Suspension

Uganda Rugby Union through its administrative powers has handed unruly Warriors Rugby Club Player Gabriel Aredo, a 10 month suspension.

The development comes at a time when media under the umbrella body (USPA)planned a blackout on rugby activities after a phone video evidence went viral indicating Gabriel Aredo Charging at Veteran journalist Johnson Were at the Bugembe Stadium.

Johnson Were who was on official duties for Vision group at the Kyabazinga Sevens in Jinja was heavily assaulted by Warriors Rugby Player Gabriel Aredo to a point of the damaging the Formers’ Canon EF 70-200 mm camera lens.

The Uganda Rugby Union through its Disciplinary committee stood tall to look in the matter and go further with investigations to make victims accountable.
After days of service,the union has released a statement in which part states,
“the disciplinary committee reviewed the merits in the statement and interaction during session and provided recommendation to the Executive Committee,Gabriel Aredo is suspended from Uganda Rugby Union Sanctioned activities for a duration of 10 months”.reads part of the statement Signed by general secretary Peter Odong.

Gabriel Aredo whose suspension takes immediate effect is expected not to be near any rugby related activity for about a year and awaits to pay damages summing to Eight Million Ugandan shillings if he is held accountable per statement filed by 49 year old Johnson Were at Bugembe Police Post.
