Enock Mwepu: Zambian youngster forced into early retirement

At the age of 24 years, Brighton and Hove Albion Star Enock Mwepu has been forced into an early retirement after being diagnosed with a Hereditary heart condition.

News confirming the retirement of Mwepu from playing football came in this morning with the youngster sharing a heartfelt message in his social media pages.

“Some dreams however come to an end, so it is with sadness that I announce the need to hang up my boots because of medical advice I have received. This is however not the end of my involvement with football, I plan to stay involved in some capacity.” 

Mwepu a boy from a small Zambian township called Chambishi had bigger dreams playing football and he had just started on one of his dreams as he joined English premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion in the 2021/2022 season.

“I stood strong and followed m y dream of playing football at the highest level and by the grace of God I lived my dream by playing in the Premier league.” Said Mwepu.

Enock Mwepu started out his  career at NAPS Stars in Zambia in 2017 before joining Kafue Celtic in 2017 and later crossing to Europe to join Austria side Redbull Salzburg where he later left to join UPL side Brighton and Hove Albion. 

Mwepu has passed through the youthful ranks of the Zambian national team playing for the U17 side, U21 and recently being named the captain on the national team.
