URA FC sign ex UPDF goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa

With just over a fortnight to the start of the 2022-2023 Uganda Premier League, teams are still strengthening themselves with new reinforcements.

URA FC has now announced the signing of Yusuf Wasswa on a two year deal.

Wasswa previously a goalkeeper for UPDF was signed on a two year deal.

The goalie who played at UPDF for 2 seasons saw his contract not renewed in Bombo rendering him a free agent.

He’s since then been training with the tax collectors. Yusuf Wasswa is expected to fill the void left by another goalie James Alitho who recently underwent surgery.

He will however have to battle for a starting berth alongside Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi and Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

This however shouldn’t be a problem for the experienced goalkeeper who has played for a number of sides both in the UPL and other leagues.

A former student and player for Buddo Secondary School, Wasswa has played for Buddu in the Masaza cup.

Further, he’s played for the likes of Masavu FC, SC Villa between 2017-19, Onduparaka, Kisubi United Football Club and Buganda Province in the FUFA Drum Tournament plus UPDF.

He’s therefore expected to boost Sam Timbe’s side with this wide experience.

URA FC has signed a number of players such as James Begisa Penza (UPDF), midfielder Salim Abdallah (SC Villa), forward George Ssenkaaba (Express) and in advanced talks with experienced forward Derrick Nsibambi.
