Uganda currently negotiating sponsorship deal with Manchester United

Several news have been making rounds on different outlets on how the government of Uganda is currently in advanced talks about a sponsorship deal with English Premier League side, Manchester United.

Its reported that senior government officials have been negotiating a deal with the Red Devils.

This is mainly meant to boost the tourism industry of Uganda.

The sources further intimated that these government officials bought the idea after paying a visit to the club during the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The sources further state that the club was also welcome to the idea.

According to Kibanga County MP, Hon Linos Ngompek who was one of the officials at the Commonwealth Games, the rumors are true.

The MP was amongst the photos shared on different social media platforms taken at Old Trafford consisting of National Council of Sports Chairman Ambrose Tashobya, FUFA president Moses Magogo, Sports minister Peter Ogwang, Government chief-whip Hamson Obua, amongst other dignitaries.

“We were in the Commonwealth Games and won three gold medals. We also met with Manchester United FC officials. They want Uganda to sponsor the club”, Ngompek said.

It should be recalled that Ugandan neighbors Rwanda are already earning big from sponsorship deals with two of the biggest clubs in the Continent .

These include French side PSG and EPL side Arsenal.

Rwanda is said to have signed a deal worth 39 million dollars for the Visit Rwanda logo on the Arsenal jersey sleeves.

Also the deal with PSG on their kits and stadium branding is said to be between 9-11 million dollars
