Micho hits at critics of his tactics following CHAN qualification

Uganda Cranes Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic aka Micho has come out to hit back at his critics following Uganda’s elimination of Tanzania in the CHAN final qualifier.

The Cranes hit 3 past the Taifa stars with goals form Moses Waiswa, Richard Basangwa amd Rogers Mato at the St Mary’s stadium in Kitende to give Uganda a 4-0 aggregate.

Micho while speaking to the media after the win criticized all those that have been mocking his team and saying that it wins by luck and accidentally.

“When we won 4-1 on aggregate against Tanzania in 2013, people said it was an accident,” the Serbian said to the media after the victory on Saturday.

“When we defeated them again 4-1 in 2015, some could call it a coincidence, but with this 4-0 (aggregate), it’s a habit.”

It should be recalled that rumors had started circulating about his anticipated sacking following the Cranes dismal start in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers in June.

According to these rumors, FUFA wasn’t happy with how things were turning out on his second spell and were considering sacking him.

This win therefore came as huge relief for the 52 year old.

He also went ahead to express gratitude to his squad adding that he hasn’t enjoyed working with any squad in his entire coaching career as he is with the current one.

“In my entire coaching career, I’ve not enjoyed working than I am with this group of players. It’s a pleasure working with them.”

“I believe we have shown an enormous amount of mental strength, and fitness while technically, we have been effective,” he added.

The Cranes will now turn their sights to qualifying out of the CHAN group stages for the first time in the 6 times they have participated.

The tournament will take place in Algeria in January 2023.
