It’s time for Pascal Murungi, Cricket Cranes flagged off for Africa Cup

The Uganda national cricket team the Cricket Cranes have been officially flagged off today in a press briefing at Lugogo.

New entrant of 18 Year old Pascal Murungi has been included among the 14 Players selected to represent Uganda at the Africa Cricket Cup.

Pascal and other three new faces are expected to debut for the National Men’s Cricket Team that is going to take challenge to Benoni SouthAfrica to fight for African Championship due 15th-21st September 2022.

Pascal who is Captain of the baby Cricket Cranes will have all eyes after having a masterstroke at the U-19 Cricket World Cup in West Indies were he helped Uganda to finish a record 13th Position. 

The all rounder believes that the opportunity comes at a right time as he states 

“it feels so great because it’s like a reward for the hardwork and efforts I’ve put in,from the mountain climbs to morning sessions,it’s all paid up”.

Murungi who started playing Cricket in 2015 at Nyakasura Cricket School is not afraid of the pressure that comes along with this stage but he is confident to join efforts for team success.

“Im strong and mentally fit to go,I will draw lessons from the leaders and experienced players on the squad because at the end,we want success as a Team” .

Pascal Murungi together with Munir Ismail,Joseph Baguma and Alpesh Ramjani are the four debutants selected in a squad of 14 players Captained by Brian Masaba who returns from injury after nursing a broken finger.

The Other Players include Ever green Simon Sessazi,Riazat Ali Shah,Henry Ssenyondo,Fred Achelam,Juma Miyagi,Cosmas Kyewuta,Kenneth Waiswa,Frank Nsubuga and Vice Captain Deus Muhumuza.

Uganda is pitted in Group A together with Ghana, Mozambique and Botswana and will fight for a top spot in order to set up a final game with the winner from Group B that includes Nigeria,Cameron,Malawi and long time rivals Kenya.

This is the inaugural edition of the Africa Cup and it will be played on a T20 format handing an opportunity to participants pick valuable ranking points.
