Cricket Cranes clinch inaugural T20 Africa Cup Cahllenge

Uganda were crowned champions of the inaugural T20 Africa Cup Cahllenge after a heart breaking victory against neighbors Tanzania.

At the Sahara willmoore cricket stadium, Uganda fought hard to an 8 wickets victory with just two balls to spare in 20 overs.

Uganda won the toss and elected to field first as Tanzania a score of 174/5 in all the 20 overs for the cranes to chase with captain Abhik Patwa and Ivan Selemani guiding Tanzania to a great start.

Uganda had a troubled start in their chase as Captain Brian Masaba was out in the his first attempt at the ball with an lbw by Harsheed Chorhan.

Simon Ssesaazi was also restricted to 18 runs before being trapped into a massive catch by Akhil off a ball from Harsheed Chorhan.

Riazat Ali Shah steered the cricket cranes to victory with a massive performance of 98 runs despite coming short of a century by just two runs needed.

Deus Muhumuza was a vital player partnering Ali Shah to register a half century in Uganda’s victory.

The win means Uganda won all five games in the tournament and take home the trophy for the 1st time.

The Cricket Cranes head coach Lawrence Mahatlane has now claimed a total of six trophies eversince his appointment as the man in charge.

He has so far claimed the Pearl of Africa series on three occasions with two qualifiers from last year and now the inaugural Africa Cup.
