Uganda Cranes are eager seal a place in the 2023 CHAN tournament as they target to eliminate Taifa Stars from Tanzania in a crucial tie at the St. Mary’s stadium Kitende.
The cranes carry a 1-0 first leg advantage courtesy of a Travis Mutyaba late goal away at the Benjamin Mkapa national stadium in Tanzania.
Head coach Micho Sredjovic is optimistic for positive results as he expresses the teams readiness and motivated ahead of the return leg.
“The players are ready for the task ahead. We have enough preparations knowing that players were coming from off season, played friendly matches and now the document is in our hands but that document can only be valid with a stamp and that is what we shall be aiming at in Saturday’s game,” Said Head coach Micho.
Team captain Milton Kariisa has urged the fans to rally behind the team with full support as they are prepared to put up a good show in today’s encounter.
“All the players are ready and committed towards making sure the target of qualifying is achieved. We therefore call upon out fans to come and rally behind us tomorrow.”
“We are prepared and ready to complete the task before us. Our target is simple and all we have to do is win and qualify for the final tournament,” He said.
Head Coach Micho Sredjovic tightened up his squad with addition of more experienced players after the first leg tie, striker Muhammad Shaban, George Kasonko, Ibrahim Orit and Brian Mato were all late inclusions.
Any positive result for the cranes will ensure that they book a slot in next year’s CHAN tournament and a defeat higher than a 1-0 score will end the cranes journey.
