Who will win 2022 Footballer of the year as awards return

Uganda’s popular sports publication Football 256 has revealed that their awards seeking to recognize the best yearly Footballer are back.

The publication will be celebrating their fourth anniversary ever since they introduced these awards.

These awards will go down at a ceremony on the 18th of November at a venue that will be communicated later on.

So far nominations are ongoing with journalists submitting in names of the footballers they think have been better than the rest for the past 12 months.

The nominated footballers don’t have to be categorically from Uganda. They can be playing anywhere as long as they identify with Uganda as their nationality.

The submitted names will be revealed on the 5th of September 2022.

The number will then be cut to 10 and five on September 12th and 19th respectively.

“The final three will then be revealed on Saturday October 1st, 2022, on the same day, public voting will commence.

A reader will be entitled to one vote everyday for the next six week and the player with most votes by November 17th, 2022 will be announced on November 28th,” the publication will be revealed.

Allan Okello who now plays for Algerian side Fc Paradou was the inaugural winner of these awards.

Azam FC right back Nicholas Wadada won the following award with ex Simba SC and now Arta Solar midfielder Taddeo Lwanga winning the previous one.
