KCCA is still the biggest club in Uganda following latest CAF rankings

KCCA FC has remained the most powerful club in Uganda according to the latest rankings released by CAF.

This is despite the club not having won the league trophy for about 3 years now.

These rankings show that Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly which has dominated the CAF Champions League is the biggest club on the Continent.

They are followed by Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca and then south Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns come in third. Congo’s TP Mazembe and Tunisia’s ES Tunis complete the top 5.

Zamalek (Egypt), Raja Casablanca (Morocco), CR Belouizdad (Algeria),
AS Vita (DR Congo) and Angola’s Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto complete the top 10.

Uganda’s KCCA sits in the 56th position and it’s the only Ugandan club that is nearer to the top positions.

In East Africa’s Tanzania’s Simba SC is the best club as it sits in the 14th position. Kenya’s Gor Mahia comes in the 41st position.

Many would have expected Vipers to be ahead of KCCA in these rankings. However it’s like comparing Manchester United to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite the later being so successful in the domestic League of recent, the former still has a very big pedigree on Continental level.

Vipers have so far tried five times to get into the group stages of the CAF Champions League but have failed on all occasions.
