Express sign new midfielder Ssozi as Lwesibawa departs

Uganda Premier League side Express FC have announced the signing of midfielder Yusuf Ssozi on a two year deal.

Ssozi has been playing for relegated Police FC and joined the Red Eagles as a free agent.

He has previously played for the likes of AFC Leopards (Kenya) and Paidha Black Angels.

Ssozi now becomes Express’ 8th singing in this transfer window while three more have been promoted to the senior team from the academy making the number 11.

Ssozi expressed his delight on signing for the “Mukwano Gwabangi” side and can’t wait to get started.

“I am very happy to be joining one of the country’s greatest teams, with very many talented players and rich history; I am motivated by its great history and am ready to give my best,” said Ssozi.

James Odoch the Express coach said that Ssozi brings experience to the side which will be vital in the run of the season.

“Ssozi is one of the best experienced midfielders in the country, having him in the team will be a very good especially for the young players who will learn a lot from him.”

The 2020-21 League champions have so far signed the likes of Anwar Ntege, Marvin Oshaba, Andrew Kaggwa, Hamim Ssemakula, Joseph Dhata, Kada Bitakazibwa and Benjamin Gakumba.

The club has also promoted the likes of David Lukwago, Hassan Mubiru and Shugai Kaliisa from the academy team after their impressive performances.

Besides former Express’ winger Godfrey Lwesibawa is set to join Kitara FC on a two year deal.
