The Uganda Cranes head coach Multin Micho Sredjovic has named a final traveling squad of 22 players who will fly out tonight to Ethiopia.
Vipers forward Yunus Ssentamu has once again missed out on the cranes squad despite being summoned earlier with personal reasons as Micho told the press.
“Yunus Ssentamu already communicated in advance that he has private issues and we respect his decision but we hope to consider him in future engagements.” Said coach Micho.
The other two vital players on the squad missing out are Vipers duo of Halid Lwaliwa and Bobosi Byaruhanga who are persuing visas to go and play professional football in Europe.
“Two players from Vipers SC namely Halid Lwaliwa and Bobosi Byaruhanga are in process of securing Visas to go for professional stints but confirmation will about the teams will come from Vipers SC.” He indicated.
The 22 man squad has got three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders and six forwards. The coach has praised the teams preparations and he expects the team to Finnish the job against Tanzania.
“First of all, I need to give credit to the players that have worked really hard in training since we entered camp. And now we enter second stage which is checking match fitness and this will be tested in friendly matches against Ethiopia,” said Micho Sredjovic.
The team will play two friendly games in Addis Ababa against Ethiopia on Friday and Sunday before departing to Zanzibar where they camp in preparation for Tanzania first leg game on 28th August.
